lol- I mean…. look at that lil scowl!

Well, that darling lil scowl reminded me of something funny I read the other day. It was a screen shot from a mom group, with someone saying;

“How do newborn photographers think they can charge what they do?
Their job is easy, the baby just lays there and they take pictures”….

and I giggled to myself, as did (I’m sure) every other professional newborn photographer <3

I’m surely glad our jobs look easy. Because, I for one, have spent over a decade learning, educating and photographing babies.

Understanding how to position them SAFELY.
How to comfort them PROPERLY.
How to use my very expensive equipment to capture them PERFECTLY.
So for me to move them around, position them, wrap and cuddle them … and it LOOK SO EASY, well that means I’m doing a good job! *high fiving self*

Lemme just blurt it out though. It’s NOT an easy job. It’s a wonderfully full-filling and gratifying job, however, it’s taken for granted… because, as a professional, we make it look easy. When I started, I doubted myself over and over again. It took me YEARS to get to where I am now. Education, money, and lots LOTS of experience.

So, LOVE YOUR NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHERS!

Value them, their time and respect what they charge.

Anyone is welcome to choose whom they wish for their newborn photography… but the cost should never be the 1st choice. Safety, Experience… and PROFESSIONALISM should come before all others. A cheap newborn photographer is not the google search you want when it comes to who handles your tiny, fragile, and precious new bundle.
