Last year we participated in a special photography cause, called the Olivia Act ….
We asked our friends if they knew of a family who would appreciate and flourish from a “surprise” photography session. A family that needed a few extra smiles, and who benefit from a session that they may not otherwise indulge in. And though a plethora of few lovely families, all with precious stories of struggle were brought to our attention… one stuck out.
Miss Madie… precious tiny baby Madie. Within the first few days of their daughter’s life, little Madie’s parents were told she’d need multiple surgeries to repair her heart. 10 weeks after birth, and after the initial surgery, Madie’s family were told she would need a heart transplant.
When I reached out to Madie’s mom, and told her that a few people had given me her name and told me the story of her daughters fight, I got this sweet reply:
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for your very generous gift! I would LOVE to come to your studio for a photo session with my little miracle Madie! I will reach out to you the second I get the “go ahead” to take Madie on an outing from Doctors. I am so looking forward to visiting you with Madie. Cannot wait to see what you have in store for her. I was crying as I read your e-mail I was just overwhelmed with your generosity and the anticipation of seeing the beautiful pictures you will create with my special little girl. Thank you so much for this wonderful gift! So looking forward to meeting you. ~Thank you, Marcey (Madie’s mom).
No.. thank YOU Marcey!!! For sharing your daughter Madie with us. For taking the time out of your crazy schedule, and bringing Madie to our studio, so we could play & giggle with her (this babies laugh is contagious!!!)… especially on such a special day. See, we did Madie’s session on the 1 year anniversary of her heart transplant… what a beautiful thing, and a beautiful baby to celebrate.
First of all.. here is a personal picture of Madie, from her family when she was an infant… second, is Madie today… a bright, still smiling, ginger haired BEAUTY!!!
xoxo Madie… you have made our world a better place, just by being in it <3
THIS is why I love photography… memories, milestones & miracles.. and “Madie’s” all over!
