Capturing the Simple Joys in Life
Getting ready for your newborn session
Feed baby 30 minutes before our arrival. Make sure their bellies are full and they are burped and ready.
Make one last change and keep baby loosely wrapped for easy undressing.
Keep him/her warm. Pump up the heat or turn off the AC. If you are sweating, baby is just right!
Keep visitors to a minimum. Our goal is to keep your little bundle sleeping for as long as we can!
The best clothing for a newborn is NONE! Most newborns dont even fit in their teeny outfits, and hey… SKIN IS BEST for them anyway!

Getting ready for your toddler/family session
Fill ‘em up. Make sure the little ones have had their snack, lunch or treats before we arrive. Allow for clean up time, make sure those baths are done about 20 minutes before our arrival!
If you plan on a change of clothes, make sure you have everything ready BEFORE we arrive. You can loose alot of shooting time as Mom ransacks the room looking for a missing shoe!
If naps are needed make sure your are not waking the child up as we walk in the door! No one likes to wake up with a camera in their face!
It is absolutely necessary to make sure EVERYONE partaking in the session is ready 20 minutes BEFORE we arrive. Again, lots of good sunlight has been missed waiting for cousin Joe to arrive an hour late!
Pick your location(s) well in advance. (This gives you a chance to scope it out BEFORE the shoot and you can check it out at the very same time you will be shooting to find your “sweet” spots!)
Try to keep visitors to a minimum. many parents will think that bringing Grandma along for the shoot may help the little one shed an extra smile but sometimes its more of a distraction, keep it simple!

Maternity sessions
Bring at least 2 outfits… 1) for comfort, and 2) for looks! For #2, bring your FAVORITE outfit… even if it’s tight, and not so comfy to wear, you’ll only have it on for a few mins.
Make sure your clothing is form fitting. Lose fabrics tend to hide your belly, and we want to show it off!’
If you have a cute prop that you want to use, BRING IT! ie: ultrasounds, tiny shoes, etc
Dont’ worry about skin flaws… a few touch ups on my end can remove then, and “perfect” your skin!

What to wear
Stay away from large logo’s an super crazy prints. Bright colors are ok but you don’t want your outfit of choice taking away from your little ones face
Newborns and babies up to a year old are best photographed in nothing. We will brng our bag full of cute hats, wraps and props to add little touches to little one’s portraits
Coordinating outfits work best for group shots as do bare feet. Try to match your colors but prints can be different. Too matchy matchy doesn’t always work.
